It is important for our patients to know about the surgeon who would be operating on them. Patients should be comfortable both physically and mentally. Click on one of the doctors below for background information on them.

Eric M. Knauer, M.D., F.A.C.S.

After earning his medical degree at Georgetown University School of Medicine, Dr. Knauer completed his general surgery internship at New York University Hospital and his residency training in general surgery at the University of Connecticut, where he was Chief Resident. These were followed by a fellowship in minimally invasive surgery in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery at Baylor College of Medicine, where he served as a clinical instructor for one year.

Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Knauer holds special interests in minimally invasive surgery and general surgery. He has published numerous articles on general surgery techniques in peer-reviewed journals and presented at medical society meetings across the U.S. He is a member of the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES), and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  Dr. Knauer is also the Vice Chair of the Department of Surgery at Wellstar Cobb Hospital.

Dr. Knauer joined the practice in 2003.

Mark S. Wyatt, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Wyatt is the founding member of the practice. He graduated with honors from the University of Florida College of Medicine to gain his medical degree. From there he went on as an intern and a resident in general surgery at the Georgia Baptist Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia, where he would later become Chief Resident. Upon leaving Georgia Baptist, Dr. Wyatt became an active practitioner at Wellstar Cobb Hospital, and Parkway Hospital, where he was the Chairman of the Department of Surgery for three years.

Board certified by the American Board of Surgery, Dr. Wyatt holds special interests in minimally invasive surgery and general surgery. He is the physician leader for the STAT cancer clinic at Wellstar Cobb Hospital and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

J. Patrick Brannon, M.D.

Dr. Brannon earned a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta, Georgia, where he graduated among the top 20% of his class and became a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Brannon then went on to complete his general surgery residency at the Baylor College of Medicine in the Michael E. DeBakey Department of Surgery.

Dr. Brannon's areas of special interest are in minimally invasive surgery, general surgery and breast surgery.

Dr. Brannon joined the practice in 2005.
